Rogue River

Certainly one of the more celebrated rivers in the Pacific Northwest, the Rogue River and its steelhead drew recognition from legendary angler and writer Zane Grey in the 1920’s, and again as one of eight rivers originally included in the National Wild & Scenic Rivers Act in the 1960’s.

The upper Rogue supports two seasonal steelhead runs extending “prime season” from September through November and into March and April for summer and winter fish respectively. Special fly fishing only regulations, stunning fall color, and consistent water conditions make the fall season a favorite among Rogue regulars. However, morning mist, green water, and heavy headshakes of the winter season can turn a passionate steelheader into
an obsessed steelheader.
